Faithful Reflections: Anger Management

Story

There were moments when my anger got the best of me—words spoken in frustration, silence used as punishment, or emotions I couldn’t seem to control. I thought I was justified, but afterward, I was left with regret. One day, I read James 1:19-20:

"Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires."

That verse helped me realize that anger isn’t the problem—it’s how we handle it. God calls us to respond, not react.

Insight

Anger is a natural emotion, but it must be managed with wisdom and grace. Left unchecked, it can hurt others and ourselves. But when surrendered to God, anger can become a path to healing, growth, and understanding.

Proverbs 29:11 says:
"Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end."

God invites us to pause, reflect, and invite Him into our emotions—so that our responses reflect His peace.

Prayer

Lord, help me manage my anger with grace. Teach me to pause, to listen, and to speak with love. Heal the places in me that trigger frustration, and let Your peace rule in my heart. Use my emotions to draw me closer to You, not further away. Amen.

Daily Verse

"In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry."
—Ephesians 4:26
