Faithful Reflections: Faith in Hard Times

Trusting God When It’s Not Easy

Story

It’s easy to praise God when the sun is shining, prayers are being answered, and life feels secure. But what about when the storms come—when the job is lost, the diagnosis is bad, or the future feels uncertain? I’ve had moments when my faith wavered in the face of pain. Yet it’s in those seasons that faith becomes more than words—it becomes a choice.

Habakkuk 3:17–18 says:
"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines... yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior."

Faith in hard times declares, “I will trust You, even here.”

Insight

Faith isn’t proven when everything is going right—it’s proven when life feels broken. Hard seasons stretch us, deepen our dependence on God, and reveal that He is steady even when we are not. The same God who is good in the blessings is faithful in the battles.

2 Corinthians 5:7 reminds us:
"For we live by faith, not by sight."

Faith in the dark builds the strength to stand in the light.

Prayer

Lord, it’s easy to trust You when life is good, but help me to trust You when it’s hard. Remind me that You are still God in the storms, still good in the valleys, and still faithful in the unknown. Strengthen my heart to believe in Your promises no matter what I face. Amen.

Daily Verse

"When I am afraid, I put my trust in You."
—Psalm 56:3
