The Power of Listening to Your Heart
They told me I couldn’t change the world. That it was too big. Too broken. Too far gone. And maybe they weren’t wrong.
But I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had to try anyway. Not to change everything—but something. One conversation, one decision, one person at a time. I didn’t know what impact looked like then. I just knew I had to start.
What I didn’t expect? They were right—and so was I.
When Doubt Speaks Loudly
As a kid, I often heard that trying to change the world was either foolish or futile. I was told one person doesn’t make a difference. That the world doesn’t budge for good intentions.
But deep inside—call it hope, rebellion, or curiosity—I couldn’t accept that. I believed there had to be space for meaning, even in small acts. I didn’t need to change everything. I just needed to help someone.
And now, years later, I’ve realized a simple truth: no, we can’t move mountains alone. But we can start the ripple. And with the right words, the right tools, and the right heart, that ripple becomes a wave.
The Power of Influence
This article isn’t about going viral or proving doubters wrong. It’s about listening—really listening—to your heart, even when the world gets noisy.
Because it will get noisy. You’ll hear doubts. Criticism. Fear. Imposter syndrome. Sometimes even your own voice will try to stop you. But here’s what I’ve learned: our influence isn’t about the size of our audience—it’s about the intention behind our impact.
We all have influence. Whether we accept it or not. The question isn’t if we’ll make an impact—but what kind.
“You don’t need a platform to lead—you need presence, purpose, and compassion.”
A Moment That Reminds Me Why
I remember a young youth approaching me after a speaking engagement. He told me that two years earlier, we had a one-on-one conversation at a workshop. Back then, he felt invisible—believing he could never become someone of significance.
But something shifted that day. He took the tools from that workshop, started believing in himself, and began building a more positive, fulfilled life. He launched small side hustles, became more joyful, and most importantly, started seeing the impact he had on others.
He looked me in the eye and said: “Now I believe in myself. I know I matter.”
That one conversation didn’t change the world. But it changed his world. And that’s enough.
Chasing Meaning Over Metrics
Sometimes we chase goals that look good on paper—titles, money, status—but leave us empty. What we need more often are goals aligned with our values: healing, creativity, honesty, service.
The ability to influence is powerful. But if we don’t align that power with purpose, it can mislead. Influence without intention can manipulate. That’s why we must pause regularly and ask ourselves:
Who do I want to become?
What kind of legacy am I building?
Am I feeding hope, or fueling fear?
“Power without direction is noise. Influence with values becomes leadership.”
Small Goals, Big Impact
Not all transformation needs to be public. Some of the most powerful wins happen quietly:
Forgiving someone
Reconnecting with joy
Speaking up for the first time
Learning how to rest without guilt
These acts may never earn applause, but they shift who we are. And when we grow, the people around us feel it.
“You don’t need an audience to be impactful—just authenticity.”
Why Not You?
Following your heart doesn’t mean ignoring logic. It means honoring both. It means choosing action over fear and alignment over approval.
There will always be negative voices telling you that your dream is too big, or you’re not good enough. Sometimes, those voices even sound like your own. But this is where steady, quiet willpower steps in and whispers:
“Keep going.”
You won’t get it perfect. But you will get stronger. And even if you don’t land where you imagined, you’ll land somewhere meaningful.
So yes, I was told I couldn’t change the world. And maybe they were half right. But so was I—because we can change someone’s world. And when we do that, we begin to change the world after all.
It starts by listening to your heart. Then taking a step. Then asking the most important question of all:
Why not me?
💬 Now it's your turn:
What direction is your heart taking you right now?
Are you following it—or fighting it? Why?
What’s standing in your way? And what would it look like to take just one step forward?
Your next step doesn’t have to change the whole world.
Just let it change yours.
Please don’t hesitate to pass this on to anyone who may find it valuable.
